DELISH!! I have been making Pea Soup the aforementioned way for over 20 years and I take never always "sweat" the onion, celery and garlic prior to calculation the ingredients in the lodge of this recipe and I believe that THIS IS Cardinal to an AMAZING HAM & Split PEA SOUP! I did a few things my onetime mode such as simmered my ham bone for about an hour prior to starting the recipe. I removed ham off of bone and used all the leftover ham that I had sliced from the previous "baked ham" dinner. Instead of using chicken stock and h2o, I used the stock from the ham bone. I added everything in the same order every bit Chef John, let simmer for a few hours and then added approx. 5 peeled, cubed potatos and six cutting up carrots to the soup and let simmer another 1 to two hours longer. I did simmer my soup on stovetop throughout the solar day for many hours (definitely stirring occasionaly). My family from ages 9 - 55 LOVED LOVED this soup. My hubby stated that this was the ABSOLUTE All-time SPLIT PEA & HAM SOUP I have e'er fabricated. Thank yous for the added tips and directions on adding ingredients in a "different mode"! WOW, who would have known that it would make such A MAJOR DIFFERENCE!! I can't wait to get home afterward work to eat some more of this GREAT SOUP! BTW, I e'er double my recipe for my Big EATIN FAMILY!! I did save some of my ham stock to add to the "thickened" soup if needed. My family LOVES my cooking, but stated that "my" recipes have become fifty-fifty GREATER since I found CHEF JOHN. LOVE YOU XOXOXOXO

Endeavour this with the addition of Masoor Dal (red, split lentils). The lentils tend to disintegrate and give the soup a thickness that's quite appealing.
03/05/2012
I'd give this soup 100 stars if I could!! I found Chef John's recipe on Foodwishes.com and made it at least 5 times now. Even when I double the recipe information technology doesn't hang effectually long plenty for me to get my make full and I crave it until I make more than. Works well either on the stove top as stated, or in the crock pot (do step one as stated, then throw it all in the crock pot on low for about 8 hours). Only delicious!!

Amazing, I've never fabricated divide pea soup. I added a petty veg oil instead of butter. I did cook the diced onions and diced celery until it was translucent. I did add together dark-green onions as well. And so added left over ham from Thanksgiving from Logan Farms and besides the Sausage from Bone Daddy's. I stirred for a few. Then added the dissever peas stirred it infor a couple of minutes before I added the Chicken Stock. I covered all with the chicken stock. So a pinch of salt and pepper. Boiled it for 45 min. Stirred it continusly. Then lowered temp to simmer the residue for an hour and 15mins. My married man couldnt become plenty of it. Its was incredidble. Thanks

A Keeper! I enjoy divide pea soup very much. I thought this was the all-time I've always had. My wife who is not a soup fan at all (any kind of soup) found this succulent. The flavors really were as Chef John described, the smokey salty ham flavor married with the slightly sweat pea flavour. I estimate the cardinal is the "sweating" of the onions, garlic and celery in the butter, considering I've fabricated split pea soup many times and its never tasted nearly this adept. I made a few minor alterations because of what I had on hand and because of what I needed to apply upwardly. I don't think these added or subtracted from the basic recipe, I'yard just listing them here fwiw: (1) I used 48 oz turkey stock (instead of craven stock.) and nearly 8 oz of water. (ii) Added 2 small russett potatoes diced small (left peel on) and (3) nigh 8 baby carrots sliced about 1/8 inch. I placed it all in the slow cooker (added the butter, onions, garlic, celery afterward "sweating" them on the stove in a pan) and x hours subsequently, the most delicious carve up pea soup I've ever eaten.
01/23/2012
Just fabricated this for dinner, and it's a keeper (literally, besides - information technology made a whole lot of soup! More than the eight serving stated). I followed the recipe about exactly, only changing upward 2 things. I added 4 cooked and chopped slices of bacon that I had leftover from breaky, and I seasoned with a couple pinches of cumin because I retrieve information technology adds a niggling something different. Corking recipe!
12/12/2011
pretty bland. Needed to cook much longer than 1 hour fifteen minutes for peas to exist fully cooked.
01/07/2014
Oh my gosh! I demand another stomach to hold all the soup I wish I could consume! I needed a split pea sou recipe that did not call for a ham hock or bone because I only had some ham frozen leftover... This is a bully uncomplicated recipe that is then flexible. I had no bay leaves, and I adopt to use olive oil for sauteing... I likewise added 2 chopped carrots to the recipe. And just for kicks and giggles, I added about iii/4 cup pinot grigio in the final 30 minutes. It almost doesn't affair what you do to this recipe, every bit long as you accept a pound of ham, a pound of peas, and some broth, you volition be happy. If my stomach was not a finite vessel, I would have eaten the whole pot by now!
02/26/2012
declared delicious and the best pea soup i have made. added two carrots and more broth to sparse soup before serving. yum!
04/04/2013
This will be MY carve up pea soup recipe forever. I take made divide pea soup many times, only this is the KEEPER recipe. I started out with a ham bone and simmered it with the split up peas, ham, craven broth, water, and bay foliage while I chopped and sauteed the vegetables. I used canola oil instead of the butter. I besides added chopped carrots and sauteed them with the onion, garlic and celery. Then I added the sauteed vegetables to the ham bone goop. I did cook the split peas and ham bone longer than 1 hour xv minutes, but full fourth dimension from offset to finish was 2 hours every bit shown above.
12/12/2012
Made this soup today (didn't take any celery and I added 1 cut up carrot) and it's probably the best split pea soup I've ever made or tasted! Afterwards I cooked the onion and garlic in my Le Creuset french oven, I added the rest of the ingredients and popped it in a 350 oven for 2 1/ii hours. Turned out just perfect.
05/01/2013
THE all-time. I've been making this every other week for the terminal three or iv months. The simply things I do differently is to add together a couple of sachets of jamon bouillon powder, and I omit the celery if I don't accept whatever. Even though Husband is firmly in the 'I hate in when my wife makes soup for dinner' camp, he has NO problem with this 1. Serve information technology with some bootleg crusty bread. Delicious!
09/11/2012
Fabricated this as a favor for a friend and he gave me a loftier compliment by proverb it was exactly like his female parent used to brand and she is now deceased. He was so happy to enjoy it again and ate two big bowlfuls. I also shared with other friends and everyone LOVED information technology.
01/29/2014
This was 1 of the best pea soups that I have ever made. I used two smoked ham hocks and got lots of tender meat off of them. Used a scrap more liquid to cover them, and then thickened the soup at the end with some stale potato flakes. Worked great. This will exist my base recipe from here on.
01/04/2012
Used left over Christmas ham and it was crawly! I used no fat reduced sodium craven broth so I used all goop instead of broth + water.
01/12/2012
Really piece of cake recipe and a great way to use leftovers from the holidays (only needed to buy the split peas). It isn't anything super unique -- but it is a recipe that worked well just equally written. I'd make it once again.
12/23/2011
We loved it.
11/09/2014
Wow! I thought this recipe was too simple - and there was no fashion information technology could be a peachy soup with so few ingredients and seasonings. Boy was I wrong! I've already made it 3 times in the past 6 weeks - it is THAT good. I've been on the hunt for a great dissever pea soup and my search is done!! The only VERY Pocket-sized tweaks that I made, were to add together a carton of reduced sodium chicken broth instead of the quart of water (in addition to the two.5 cups craven broth), and a few carrots I had diced to add some color and texture. A word of warning, if you lot purchase the pre-packaged diced ham (which is what I used), brand sure you rinse it thoroughly earlier adding it, or information technology could make your soup besides salty. I can't wait to have this once more!!
02/05/2018
Sometimes, simple is the best. Afterwards I roast a ham, I'll employ the bone to make my split pea soup. I'll simmer the ham bone (with generous meat still attached) in the broth for an hour while I chop the veggies and saute in butter in a large skillet. I'll remove the ham bone from the broth, and then add the sauteed vegetables, separate peas, and spices to the goop. Fantastique!
12/30/2014
Made this yesterday with Christmas leftover ham. The merely change I made was I used carrots instead of celery. I served information technology to some guests terminal nighttime (against my husbands recommendations, he thought no one would like it)-they loved it! Some even went back for seconds! I loved it and will definitely get in once more!
12/03/2014
Split peas needed to exist cooked much longer to go mushy. possibly they should have been soaked overnight. I'll try it again.
01/02/2013
I tried this recipe for New Years dinner! It was crawly! Didn't alter a thing! Didn't need to! Did want to make one comment tho. Someone had complained that it took longer than the recipe said to cook. Please deport in listen that not all stoves are created equal. Mine took a footling less fourth dimension to melt and peas were very tender! Cheers Chef John for another keen recipe!
01/04/2015
wow this is really good simply added crushed red peppers.
06/14/2016
My kids similar a creamy split pea soup, so I "smashed-upwards" some of the cooked peas.
12/xxx/2014
Oh, yum! I fabricated this mostly as written until the end when I decided on the spur of the moment to add diced baby carrots & potatoes as some reviewers suggested & and then - only to get rid of them - i threw in one-half a packet of frozen peas & carrots. I had a ham bone from Christmas with a ton of ham on it & I used that broth instead of chicken stock. I similar cumin simply would have never thought to use it but I'm glad I did! I loved the season of it in this soup! My DH was impressed as well so I know I will make this over again & over again! Information technology'due south a very forgiving recipe. I'k thinking of calculation roasted corn the adjacent fourth dimension. Served with homemade cornbread for a hearty meal on this cold evening!
12/29/2014
I added some carrots to the mix of onion, celery & garlic & seasoned with blackness pepper as it was simmering, no need to add salt because of the ham
05/26/2013
This recipe has potential, but I'd say the soup, as is, was just ok. First off, I'd recommend using reduced sodium chicken broth, and then adding common salt as needed. Even though I didn't add whatsoever common salt along the way, mine was withal on the salty side. Felt that some more than vegetables in the soup, perhaps carrots and/or potatos might improve flavor. Lastly, to brand this a soup that would satisfy my pallet, I felt similar more than spices would be needed. I think I'll bank check out another split pea soup recipes on this site to run into what kind of spices people are using in their dissever pea soup recipes.
04/05/2013
I followed the recipe except added carrots. my family loved it..
xi/01/2014
Yummy! Afterwards I devoured some myself, I froze the rest in individual portions to deliver to my father in law since dissever pea soup is his favorite. Next time I volition double the recipe!
10/15/2014
Great unproblematic soup that reminds me of my grandmother's. I've made this several times since discovering this recipe a few years ago. Carrots make a neat add-on. For something dissimilar, try with bacon instead of ham and utilise two tbsp of the bacon fat to saute the onions and celery instead of the butter. Soooo good.
01/04/2013
Very good and easy recipe.... I added 5 cloves of roasted garlic and more stock than h2o. About 5 cups stock and only 1.5 cups water. I too added a diced carrot and two celery stocks instead of 1.
12/03/2018
I fabricated this soup today following the recipe exactly, with the improver of diced carrots. The end result was a very tasty pea soup. The problem with the recipe, is that it does not call for soaking the peas kickoff. At that place is no fashion this soup tin cook in the suggested fourth dimension without soaking the peas. I had to cook my soup for over two hours before the peas were at the right consistency. I will make it again and exist certain to soak those peas the next go around.
01/14/2015
This was a groovy soup! We make lots of soups for our "soupy Sun's", this one wins the prize. Only thing we did different was add salary, yum!
01/13/2015
Make sure y'all remove the bay leafage! I prefer non to put garlic in pea soup, but that is only me. I used a sugariness Maui onion, it was about a cup and pretty chopped, I don't want chunks of onion taste in my soup. I put the ham in the last 5 minutes so it would exist juicy; ham is already "cooked". I used homemade ham broth with all the fatty skimmed off, and so depended on that to give the rich flavor of ham for the soup. Concluding one-half 60 minutes I added heirloom carrots from Trader Joe'due south, tested for table salt, since there is already so much with ham and goop, did not demand to add whatever. When serving, I added ane/2 teaspoon of Toasted Sesame Oil to each bowl, this makes an absolutely incredible bowl of soup for dunking toasted bread. I put Bragg'southward Amino Acrid bottle at tabular array for those looking for more than salt without the sodium in their private bowl. Time NOTE: When cooking, I brought to a boil, then simmered on low, with lid; my soup was set up in 45 minutes. I would suggest making ahead of time in case your soup takes longer, depends on the type of pea and the type of goop vs. water for how long it volition have, and some like information technology mushy too (like me). Even better the next day! Thanks!
01/24/2015
Smashing and simple recipe. Delicious! The cooking time was a bit as well long and most burned. Likely though dependant on the blazon of stove you take.
10/24/2013
Amazing recipe..we have a butcher store hither in Charleston so I bought a 1.5 lb ham hock, threw in ane slice of Applewood Smoked Salary..I did utilise Reduced Sodium Craven Broth and added ii more cloves of garlic..came out perfect. I did take to melt a chip longer, but we live in an older house with an older stove and then I think that was the differential. The young man is Dutch, thus having high standards for Split Pea soup :), and after two minutes, I got a kiss. I think that speaks for itself.
06/15/2014
This was great. I am new to cooking, our family had left over ham from Father'southward Day Brunch and took left overs home and made soup for lunch for the week. Information technology was easy for someone that can barely boil water to pull off and information technology tasted pretty good. First-class with some warm French Breadstuff and butter. Tends to be a fleck cool and cloudy in LA in June this soup hit the spot. Tin non expect until Fall and serve this at our Sunday Dinner'southward for my entire family.
08/01/2012
I am an accented (note ABSOLUTE) beginner when information technology comes to making soups, however I am a very practised taster of them. This recipe was then easy to follow and what's more, tasted DELICIOUS. Fellow is happy, I'm happy, I'grand recommending it to my friends :)
03/xiv/2012
We really enjoyed this. I needed to cook information technology for a hour & 30min. Thats the only modify I made.
05/23/2018
This soup is delicious! I used chicken broth and water but added "Better Than Bouillon" for added flavor. I also added red pepper flakes while sautéing the vegetables. Very adept and I'm glad I sautéed showtime. Almost forgot, I added a grated carrot equally well. You won't be disappointed!
11/15/2019
This is probably the best homemade soup I've ever had! My boyfriend made information technology terminal...the simply changes he made was using a fleck more than butter and garlic, and he dropped the centre bone in from the ham steak while it was cooking. It had an amazing depth of flavor which is crazy since the ingredients were so unproblematic. And he said it was incredibly easy to make.
12/31/2018
This is a great recipe! I used a ham bone and h2o instead of stock. I likewise added other vegetables including carrots and potatoes. Earlier serving, remove the bone and bay leaf. With the extra vegetables I used an immersion blender to thicken the soup and break up the vegetable chunks. This is our New Years go-to recipe using our Christmas ham bone.
03/fourteen/2016
Not a big pea soup fan simply really enjoyed this
x/03/2014
Delicious soup! I've been making it like this for years, usually just eyeballing the ingredients. I made as directed, but added some sliced carrots to the onion, celery, garlic saute likewise. Turned out perfect and hubby and the kids gobbled information technology correct upwards!
09/11/2012
Just like a can soup make sure to use low sodium broth and used just broth no water. Nice and thick.
01/20/2018
A very simple separate pea soup recipe. It's an ok base recipe, simply it's bland on its own and but needs something else. I tried simmering the carve up peas with a smoked pork bone. I besides added ii carrots and a fiddling sprinkle of thyme. A sprinkle of lemon at the finish really helped; vinegar might exist fifty-fifty ameliorate. But in full general, it's nothing special.
10/19/2012
Oh, boy! Is this good! I died over this recipe for similar 2 weeks with leftovers. I had a lot more leftover ham idea and I didn't want to waste it so I used the whole bunch! Boy is this adept though- wow!! Top notch.
12/30/2013
I loved this recipe! I didn't utilize the bay leaf and I added some ruby-red lentils and water and did it in the boring cooker. I like blended soups and my husband likes chunky soups and this was both!
02/23/2014
Great recipe. I used mostly stock and just a trivial water. I added 1/4 cup diced carrots and pureed the vegetables after sauteing them. I used a purchased smoked ham bone which added lots of flavour. I simmered the soup for 4 hours before eating and then it was dainty and thick. Delicious. I will make again.
11/12/2013
This soup is astonishing! I added pumpkin and fresh thyme. As well I permit the peas soak overnight . My boyfriend loved it.
07/04/2016
Added a couple of carrots , this 1 is a winner and it'due south and then like shooting fish in a barrel to brand. Next time I am going to effort information technology i a breadstuff bowl!
03/xxx/2020
I added carrots but otherwise followed the recipe, astounding! Hearty and succulent.
03/02/2015
This was far and away ane of the all-time and easiest soups I've always tried. First fourth dimension for split pea soup and information technology was perfect and easy. I did add 1 carrot. My married man loved it as well. I served it with crusty garlic bread. It'due south a keeper.
02/25/2012
Yummy - didnt add together the garlic - but added extra bay leaves ....Real overnice and simple
09/22/2014
This is the best pea soup I've had since my parents used to make it.Thanks for the recipe.
01/14/2014
YUMMY! Especially on a cold day. I live at 8800 feet in CO and simmered for an extra hour. I didn't have any ham and the soup was still very filling for my family. I added about 1/2 loving cup of diced carrots for me. This is an easy recipe and very skilful! Served with a side of french bread.
01/16/2014
Delicious and easy!!
01/02/2019
I had never made, or eaten split pea soup, but information technology'due south one of my husband'due south favorites. I followed the recipe, minus the salt and pepper. And instead of cooking on the stove, I put it in the slow cooker afterward sauteing the onions, garlic and celery. My husband, who has loved this soup since babyhood, said information technology was the all-time tasting split pea soup he'southward ever eaten! His only "complaint" was that he prefers it thicker. I volition definitely be making this again. I'll probably merely cook it for less time, or add a thickener(?)
02/02/2013
My Husband says this was one of the best soups I have made in awhile (and I brand lots of soups) I personally liked the texture of a vegetarian slow cooker version I got off this site but did remember this soup was quite skillful. P.due south. I made it exactly every bit written except I used Olive Oil instead of butter bc I didn't know I was out of butter until I started making this
xi/27/2012
Delicious. I followed the recipe exactly and it was really good. I prepped it the night before and left it in the crock pot for 8 hours on low the next twenty-four hour period. Earlier serving I ran my immersion blender through. I topped my bowl with a dollop of sour cream. Mmm.
12/30/2012
I simply got done making this in my crockpot and I am totally pleased. I loved eating the split pea soup my grandmother used to make and I haven't had it since I was a teen and this i is but like hers. I might add a little more chicken stock next time since information technology did melt down to where it is actually thick. Definitely a great thing to have cooking for a cool evening meal.
01/28/2014
Fabulous recipe - cheers!
12/10/2014
Past far the all-time split pea soup I've ever had! I used left over Thanksgiving ham for this, and did not include the celery as I am not a fan. When the soup cools, it becomes similar mashed potatoes, then calculation a scrap of h2o when reheating is a must, but does non take away from the succulent flavor. I will be making this recipe many more than times in the time to come!
12/xxx/2018
Very dainty dish. I stuck to the ingredients and made equally the directions called for. I used the salted chicken stock and goop for flavor. Came out delightful. As the directions phone call for, salt and pepper to your own gustatory modality, worked out well.
01/xix/2019
I got so many compliments on this and information technology was succulent. I had a ham bone and couldn't observe recipes using just the bone so I tried this one. Instead of the ham (meat) ingredient I placed the bone which had some meat into the pot. The rest of the recipe I followed exactly. Saved to favorites!
09/xiii/2015
Pretty much followed the recipe. Used two packages of Hormel diced ham and saved a considerable amount of time and effort. Very tasty and satisfies on those beautiful and cold Seattle nights!
01/04/2018
Great! Will make again.
09/07/2019
This soup was exceptional. The just affair I added was chopped carrots with the celery, onion and garlic. It was thick. Some recipes phone call for information technology to be placed into a blender. No need to practise this with this recipe it was perfect.
01/09/2014
In addition, I pureed the soup when it was done. I have not been disappointed past anything Chef John has cooked. I could listen to him all 24-hour interval long. I loved this recipe.
07/18/2018
This soup gets better over next few days. I blend 3/4 of the soup subsequently the soup is cooled to mimic the texture of famous Anderson'south carve up pea soup. Subtle but delicious. It is going to be a staple at my house.
02/05/2016
So easy! I had made a stock from a ham bone and then I used all ham broth and no water . Very simple recipe with piddling prep piece of work and information technology turned out delish! Thank you
04/03/2018
Peachy soup, easy to make, I concur with others, if you're not reaching a high enough temperature the peas will non fully cook in the fourth dimension stated. Also - don't forget to remove the bay leaf before serving! Recipes frequently seem to leave out one or two important steps.
01/03/2020
Like shooting fish in a barrel to make, tastes delicious!
12/28/2017
This was pretty tasty. We made it exactly as described. Next time I'd add a bunch of carrots and other veg, every bit that's how I'd prefer information technology, and less ham. Thanks for the recipe!
03/26/2017
A very piece of cake and delicious soup! I did not add together whatsoever salt as I institute the ham gives off enough. Loved it. Thank you!
12/26/2015
no changes fabricated at all and it was exactly the taste was craving! It's a keeper!
01/05/2016
Very adept soup. I add together grated carrots. wonderful flavor.
01/02/2016
I'll try it and add fresh cilantro.
01/01/2017
Information technology turned out nifty
08/04/2020
FYI: 1lb stale carve up peas is about two cups. I diced and pan fried my ham. Later I added the stale split peas I besides added carrot chunks and dried parsley. I've fabricated this soup a agglomeration of times and it always comes out great.
01/26/2018
Information technology was keen equally is - I similar a thicker soup then I added 1/2 loving cup less h2o.
07/06/2018
No bayleaf used. Used diced bacon. Defreakinlicious!!!
01/09/2018
Okay, full disclosure: I do not like dissever pea soup, and so I didn't really eat any. This is my married man's and son's opinion. Changes I made: I added a bunch of carrot coins and nigh 5 pieces of salary, chopped up ??. And I used extra light Olive oil instead of butter. My hubby loves split pea soup and said this was fantastic. He said I should bring it to a church potluck because everyone would love it. My four yr old son loved it and asked for seconds. He gave me a hug and said it was a reward for making such a yummy dinner. He has literally never done that before. I mean he had hugged me a zillion times, merely never as a reward for having cooked something. So although I didn't personally try it, it receives rave reviews from my household!
11/23/2019
Fantastic recipe. I substituted smoked turkey for ham and added shredded carrots for more nutrition and information technology was Succulent!! Will make double batch next fourth dimension!
01/x/2019
I did dice upwards potatoes . Came out perfect.
01/04/2019
I made this for New Years 24-hour interval and it was awesome. I just fabricated a few very small changes. I used low sodium craven broth for all of the liquid, added chopped carrots, a few extra cloves of garlic and omitted the salt. Because we like spice, I added about 1 tsp cumin and the same of smoked paprika. I cooked information technology for several hours and the soup thickened beautifully with the peas beingness completely cooked. Loved it!
05/02/2020
This was succulent!! I added 12 baby carrots diced, an extra rib of celery, only two cloves of garlic and I added the pocket-sized slice of ham bone (from the ham steak I used) into the pot. I used the instapot and ready it to pressure cook for 30 minutes. It came out perfectly! Volition definitely use this recipe again.
10/17/2018
used vegetable goop instead of chicken stock. It was a large striking with my married woman.
01/05/2020
I accept made this five times and I make this exactly as written. It is succulent. Information technology doubles well also.
03/06/2018
I used ham broth made from a meaty picnic ham bone and added a footling chicken broth to make the full measure of liquid. The diced picnic ham and a little residual fat from the ham broth really brought out the flavor. Carmelizing the onion in the butter adds a piffling sweetness. I don't particularly like bay leafage, so instead I added ane/2 teaspoon crushed blood-red pepper and one/4 teaspoon celery table salt to add a fiddling zing. Keen, great soup!
01/08/2018
My rating is due to the fact I used honey glazed ham clamper, which made the soup sweet. Bad move on my role. May try information technology once more with just obviously ole ham.
06/09/2019
Something went wrong. My peas never got soft, non hard only definitely non soft. I fifty-fifty allow it cook for an additional two hours adding water whenever needed. Everything else turned to mush but not the peas.
03/16/2019
Adept STUFF,YUMMY,GOT TO Accept RITZ CRACKERS TO Get WIYH It...
01/12/2016
Cooked as directed and the soup was very rich and very good.
xi/29/2017
It is so like shooting fish in a barrel to make. Soup really goes good with grill cheese..
04/10/2018
Added diced carrots and would definitely make this again. My husband loved it.
12/31/2018
I boiled the Ham bone left over from our Christmas ham with parsley, thyme and pepper with enough water to cover the bone. I then followed the rest of the recipe as written. It was outstanding, I will use this basic recipe every time from now on.
09/16/2015
Oh my goodness!!! It was then easy and delicious!! I got a high five from my hubby :)
x/25/2015
Tasty soup just needed boosted salt and pepper, this is to your gustation. I used a ham slice, cut into small pieces forth with carrots, celery and onion that were sweated for a few minutes. Additional water was needed during the cooking process as it evaporated. I added a bouillon cube instead of stock. This soup needs to be constantly stirred equally it will gum upward if you do not. Making pea soup from another recipe earlier, this was an piece of cake recipe for sure. Keen fall soup served with butter and garlic croutons. Letting the soup stand for a few minutes before serving volition give you a thicker soup.
